A ‘good news’ story from Kate
I pondered for some time about this one – there have been so many good stories during 2013 that I simply couldn’t decide which one to pick. So, I decided to look forward to 2014 instead – where Saint Lucia will be welcoming our first 4 volunteers early next year.
As you know, we spend a lot of time and effort in building strong local partnerships before we begin to match volunteers to projects – here’s a photo of the team at Sacred Sports Foundation, our Caribbean partners.

Esme, Val and Valerie have volunteered with us before – Esme in The Gambia, Val in South Africa and Valerie in Nepal, and this year Esme’s husband Kevin will complement the team. Each will be contributing their individual skills and experience to different projects: Kevin will be working with the Saint Lucia National Trust on aspects of advertising, promotion and marketing; Esme’s placement involves life skills training and support for teenage girls; life skills and remedial teaching in the Court Diversion scheme will be Val’s focus; Valerie’s input will also be in supporting teenage girls in their education at Lady Gordon School.

WOW – what a team and what great placements – all together on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Lucia!
Can’t wait to hear more and share their news!

Happy New Year everyone!
