Could you run an online book club?

Could you run an online book club?

Do you enjoy reading and discussing the books you have read with friends?  Are you one of the many people who have held your book club meetings online during lockdown?  If so, you could be just the person we are looking for!

Our partners in South Africa have come up with a brilliant suggestion for an e-volunteer placement.  They already run reading circles for their staff, and they would love to meet a volunteer who would link up with them for regular online meetings to discuss the books they have read.  The aim of the placement would be to improve their confidence in speaking English – they are all English-speakers but it is not their first language so any opportunity to practise is always useful.  As in any book club, you and they would choose the books together – if the books are available online that is a bonus but they are happy to buy copies if required.

This could be a great opportunity to get to know people in South Africa, sharing your love of reading with them in a friendly atmosphere online.  If you are interested please email dianne@travel-peopleandplaces.co.uk

There are also other opportunities for e-volunteering with this project which is based at Hazyview, near Kruger Park in South Africa.  Take a look here:
