UNV has launched its official Facebook page www.facebook.com/unvolunteers! Between now and 4 December the page will host a global conversation about volunteering to end poverty. On the eve of International Volunteers Day, this conversation will culminate in a 24-hour film festival on the page. We would like to invite you to connect and share your thoughts and ideas with other volunteers, volunteer involving organizations and interested people around the world.
The festival will showcase 12 films, demonstrating the impact volunteers – including online volunteers – can make to peace and development projects. The films are largely made by volunteers and the stories come from all over the world. For example, an online volunteer from Malaysia helped a peasant association in Guatemala redefine the image of their products. An online volunteer from the U.K. coordinates and teaches post-secondary correspondence courses to refugees and internally displaced persons in Afghanistan, Nepal and Uganda. These stories don’t make the news but they are changing the world.
Join the discussion now and mark your calendar for the film festival on 4 December!
