Our November social is filling up – if you would like to come please let us know ASAP “I just wanted to drop you a line to thankyou for arranging the volunteer on line meetings. The first meeting I attended was before I volunteered with you and I found it so reassuring to be able to hear from previous volunteers and local partners before I travelled. A great opportunity for girls from the Morocco boarding houses

The Education for All boarding houses (where many of our volunteers work) are not just about enabling girls to go to school and get their qualifications. They are also about preparing the girls for life and for work, giving them the skills and confidence to become independent women. Here is a great initiative from the travel industry to support them in this aim. From the Education for All newsletter: Hays Travel Internships start this Summer We are so excited to…

What an impact our e-volunteer programme is having in Morocco!

What an impact our e-volunteer programme is having in Morocco!

Anyone wanting evidence of the importance of this programme had only to attend our online social a few weeks ago.  Since 2020 volunteers have been working online with house-mothers and girls at the Education for All boarding houses to build their confidence and fluency in spoken English. Latifa, the house-mother due to participate in the social, had to drop out on the morning of the event and Khadija, house-mother of Dar Asni 3, stepped in at a moment’s notice.  To…

e-volunteering -a solution during the pandemic and an opportunity for years to come

e-volunteering -a solution during the pandemic and an opportunity for years to come

The start of the vaccine roll-out!  Of course, like everyone else, we are delighted and keeping our fingers crossed that all goes to plan and volunteers can start travelling again later this year.  But that certainly will not mean the end of our e-volunteer programme. When we started creating opportunities for people to volunteer from home during 2020 it was of course in response to the pandemic – could we find a viable and useful way for volunteers to offer…

volunteer stories from Morocco

volunteer stories from Morocco

‘We want to give girls the chance of a college education in Morocco because we believe that if you educate a girl you educate the next generation as well’.  This is the motivation for Education for All who, by building boarding houses for girls from the High Atlas Mountains, have enabled more than 300 girls to access education beyond primary school level. In October two ‘people and places’ volunteers, Tina and Linda, went to Morocco to volunteer alongside the house-mothers…
